FAREWELL

If I bid you farewell
Finally letting you go.
My tears camouflaged
Like a dried-up river’s flow.

If I unshackled your soul
Setting you, forever free
A new flight, a different world
A new nest, a different tree.

Horizons - blue, alluring
Flocks calling out to you
Magpies, swans, sparrows
Blackbirds and cuckoo.

If I unshackled your soul
Setting you, forever free
Would you still remember?
Would you come back for me?

A POET'S QUILL

Let me sleep a night
Of a million shattered dreams.
Let me wade through waters
Of desiccated streams.
Travelling across deserts
Sans any mirage.
My eyes - dry and bleary
Crumpled and filthy visage.

Love me not, nor hate me
Neither do I seek.
Lost in a world of make-believe
Of solitude I reek.
Sustaining on a diet
Of perverse and twisted passions.
Committing another crime
Conjuring up new confessions.

Take away my worldly assets
If you find any.
Deprive me of my daily bread
Throw away the honey.
Snatch not from me, my quill
And the pot of sanguine ink.
In the raging sea of verses
My jaded soul shall sink.

AUTHOR

Do I have it in me?
To be an author, again
Revisit the trials, tribulations
The trauma and the awful strain

To let a new-fangled plot
Impregnate my fertile mind
In order to conceive
A creation, one of a kind

Patiently wait for the ‘D’ day
Through  winter, spring, summer and rain
Endure the ordeals of labour
And the excruciating pain.

Striving to catch a glimpse
Of my baby, my newborn
Hoping that she is healthy
Unblemished; pretty like a swan.

When she ventures on her journey
When her ability is put to test
Deep in my heart, praying
That she is a cut above the rest.

Brooding at her losses
Rejoicing at every gain
Do I have it in me?
To be an author, again...
