THE BLEEDING SKY

The night, the sky bleeds blood
Colouring the world in a ruddy hue
The stars shuddering with mortal fear
The moon fossilized, taking a cue.

I will carve my pounding heart out
My passions on display for you to inspect
The chambers brimming with affection
A bit of adulation, loads of respect

The tears I shed will all be yours
My sonnets, reaching only your ears
Recounting a story long forgotten
By my dearest, over the years

Till the night, the sky bleeds blood
Colouring the world in a ruddy hue
Let my eyes convey the message
Affirming my timeless love for you…

SEND ME SOME RAIN

The stars shine not,
The moon a blur, a stain
The flowers blossom not
Withering under autumn strain
The eyes smile not
The brows hiding a pain
The hearts love not
Compassion, they feign
The souls glide not
Ensnared by an unseen chain.

Let’s all start afresh
Let’s learn to love again
Forfeit the past, the shadows
To repent would be in vain
Let despair be vanquished
Let hope and felicity reign
Let’s pray for an angel
Let’s crave for some rain…

R.I.P.

To lie down on uncut grass
Resting under the shade of a tree
Savouring  a few moments of leisure
When my weary soul is wanton and free.

Isolated from the sea of humanity
Away from the cacophony of voices
A crooning cuckoo, somewhere around
The rustling of leaves - the only noises.

A canopy of clouds, a gentle breeze
A few showers of rain to follow
Filling up the pores of my empty life
Withered, sunken and essentially hollow.

No friend to love, no foe to hate
For solitude and peace, I crave
A mirage, a distant dream it seems
I guess, will have to wait for my grave.

A BREW CALLED LOVE

Let  LOVE  be  the  brew,  let’s  all  impart.

For  a  saga  of  love,  or  a  broken  heart.
For  a  sad  farewell,  or  a  promising  start.
For  a  life  lived  well,  or  one  taken  apart.
For  an  angel’s  kiss,  or  a  poisonous  dart.

Let  LOVE  be  the  brew,  let’s  all  impart.

FEBRUARY MONOLOGUE

Call it an act of God
Or a quirk of my fate
For no folly of mine
Left stranded, with days 28.

For centuries, I was a ‘no one’
Till 'February' I was named
Shorn of my share of days
Humiliated and maimed.

My visage - cold and barren
Doesn't appeal to everyone
Wintry squalls in my bosom
No balmy nights and no sun

Flowers, I cannot conceive
My offspring - snow and hail
My mornings - lazy, aimless
The evenings - weary and stale

My heart yearns not for a lover
To be redeemed is my plea
Just a dignified existence
And my rightful stake of 30.

A NEW SONG

A new dawn, a new song
You know not the lyrics? Hum along

Taxing days, and the hours long
A hue of chores, you can’t go wrong

The strain on your brow - crooked, oblong
Bespoils the beauty, enveloping you like a sarong

With unwavering faith, stealthy and strong
Float like a butterfly, to the blossoms you belong

A new dawn, a new song
You know not the lyrics? Just hum along...

THE LONE RANGER

THE LONE RANGER

I know what it feels
To walk the path alone

Some well-traversed roads
A few destinations unknown
Through bare, desolate deserts
Across forests overgrown
Mountains capped with snow
Or fields, with paddy grown
Talking to chirping birds
Singing to every stone
Reaping the grim harvest
Of countless turpitudes sown

I know what it feels
       To walk the path alone…….

A HELPING HAND

A  HELPING  HAND

The labyrinth of life is dark, foreboding
Ditches and pebbles are strewn all the way
Treacherous bends and tricky crossroads
Chances are high, of going astray
To reach the destination, we long had planned
We all need a helping hand.

When dejection and defeat cross our path
And sorrows come home to stay
All hopes and dreams appear to shatter
And we strive to keep our tears at bay
We need someone who can understand
We all need a helping hand.

The journey is long, dull and prosaic
We live a little, and die a little each day
It's love which gives meaning to life
It’s the only remedy, the only ray
Let love be the fashion, let love be a brand
Let love be the gospel of every land.

Yes...we all need a helping hand.
