On the banks of a
choppy river
The three of us
played.
We held each other’s
hands
We sang, danced and
swayed.
I admit that I was partial
To the fair boy with
blue eyes
The swarthy fellow’s
friendship
Was more of a
compromise.
Joy and Grief their
names
They were always by
my side
The duo never
abandoned me
On life’s roller
coaster ride.
